While the USS Enterprise is off in another part of the galaxy, Phasers On Stun crews the USS Golden Gate. Every show features two back-to-back Star Trek-inspired episodes, each launched from an audience-suggested title.
We aim to honor the genre, not mock it. We don't try to be funny — we tell a real story in this universe, playing it straight enough that the stakes feel genuine and the absurd moments land. No script, no net, all fun.

- What is Phasers On Stun?
- Phasers On Stun is a San Francisco improv group that performs fully improvised Star Trek-style television episodes. While Kirk, Spock, and the Enterprise are off in another quadrant, the crew of the USS Golden Gate tells two back-to-back sci-fi stories on the spot.
- Do I need to know Star Trek to enjoy the show?
- No. The show is written for everyone — if you have never seen an episode of Star Trek, you will still follow the story and laugh. Longtime fans just get a few extra jokes.
- How does the show work?
- The audience shouts out episode titles. We pick three and the audience votes on the winner — no script, no plan, no net. We aim to honor the genre and play it straight, so the stakes feel real and the story lands. Every show is two back-to-back episodes from two different titles.
- Where does Phasers On Stun perform?
- We perform in San Francisco, most often at EndGames Improv, and we have also appeared at the San Francisco Improv Festival and other Bay Area theaters.
- How long is the show and when does it start?
- Shows typically start at 7:00 PM and run about an hour, which makes it easy to grab dinner or drinks before or after.
- Is it a good first date or solo night out?
- Yes. It is a short, low-pressure, funny hour with plenty to talk about afterward, and it is very welcoming if you are coming on your own.
